Poke Cake

1 package white or French Vanilla cake mix

1 (6 ounce) package Jell-O

2 cups boiling water 

1 (16 ounce) container Cool Whip

Prepare cake as directed on box.  Allow to cool.  Dissolve Jell-O in water.  Poke holes all over cake.  I used a fork and made holes about 2 or so inches apart.  I "wiggle" the fork a little to make the hole a little bigger.  If I remember right, I think my Mom used the handle of a wooden spoon, about 15 holes.  Slowly pour dissolved Jell-O over cake.  Cool and spread Cool Whip over top.
