Grandma's Sand Cookies

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup margarine

1 egg

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 1/2 cups flour

1 egg white

1 tablespoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Red and green candied cherries and nuts for decorating

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix all but egg white, sugar and cinnamon.  Make into a rectangular roll (about 3" by 2") and freeze.  Mix sugar and cinnamon in small bowl.  Slice and spread with egg white, then sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar mixture.  Decorate with red and green candied cherries and chopped nuts.  Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes.
