Galaktobouriko

This is my favorite Greek dessert, I don't make it very often just because of the amount of work that goes into it, but if you want something really differnet and delicious this would be a good choice.

2 quarts milk

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 pound butter

1 can sweetened condensed milk, small

1 cup Farina

9 eggs

Juice of 1 orange

1/4 pound phyllo dough

2 cups sugar

1 cup water

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Bring milk, Farina, 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter to rolling boil.  Cool.  Add orange juice and small can of milk.  Beat eggs until light and fluffy.  Gradually fold eggs into mixture.  Grease pan and line with 6 to 7 layers phyllo.  Pour mixture into pan and cover with 6 to 7 layers phyllo.  Pour over all this a little melted butter.  Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 45 more minutes or until a table knife inserted in center comes out clean.  While still warm pour syrup over all.

SYRUP: Boil 2 cups sugar, the water and lemon juice.  Simmer for 5 minutes.
