Aunt Irene's Irish Bread

This is delicious and also a part of my regular Becky's Cookbook Collection. It was submitted to our family cookbook by my aunt.

3 c. flour

1 tsp. salt

6 level tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 c. milk or enough to make the dough rather stiff

1/2 c. sugar

1 tsp. caraway seeds

1/2 c. or more raisins, if desired

Mix all ingredients except milk. Add milk and knead (mix) for a few minutes. Put in into a round pan or bowl (greased) and bake in a 400° oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out dry. Brush with butter when taken from oven. Slice thin. Delicious with butter or peanut butter. Great for breakfast.
