Eileen was a good friend of my mom's and a pastor's wife at our church. My mom made this every Christmas.
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
1 T. vinegar
1 T. baking soda
Combine sugar, corn syrup & vinegar in heavy saucepan, cook until drop becomes brittle in cold water. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in baking soda, mixing well & pour into a buttered 9X9" pan. Don't spread. Cool then break into pieces.
