Nanny's Mild Sweet Pepper Relish

My husbands grandmother, born in 1887, didn't write very many directions to her recipes. This was jotted down, it looks very quickly, on a paper with about 5 other recipes.

6 large peppers

1 cup vinegar

1 1/2 cups sugar

Remove seeds, put pepper through chopper, add 2 tablespoons salt, let stand 2-3 hours, rinse, drain 1 hour. Add sugar & vinegar, boil, stirring to prevent burning.
