One of the first recipes my grandma contributed to the family cookbook and one she made allot.
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 T. water
1 c. salted peanuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 (7 oz) pkg. chocolate chips
Cream shortening. Add beaten egg yolks, water and vanilla; blend. Add dry ingredients to first mixture. Spread on top of chocolate chips, then sprinkle chopped peanuts over this. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes. Cut when cool.
