Christmas wasn't Christmas without these yummy cookies sitting in my Grandma's cookie drawer.
2 c. butter or oleo
2 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 tsp. salt
1 c. candied cherries
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/3 c. pecans
3 T. poppy seeds
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Divide dough into 3 parts. Add cherries to 1 part, chocolate and pecans to another, and poppy seeds to the third. Pat 1 part in large flat roll. Pat another part and place on the first one. Place third dough on second. Cover with waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. Cut in 1/8 inch slices and bake at 375° for 10 to 15 minutes.
