Cousin Jane, a Home Ec teacher in the 1940's, added this comment to the recipe, "Scalloped vegetables, any left-over boiled vegetables, such as onion, cauliflower, may be scalloped like cabbage." This recipe is from her class notebook, written in pencil in her own writing.
1 c. buttered breadcrumbs
3 c. cooked cabbage
1 1/2 c. thin white sauce
Cut cooked cabbage into small pieces. Put cabbage in a greased baking dish, add white sauce and cover with buttered crumbs. Bake about 20 min. in moderate over or until brown & heated through.
