Mom's Vegetable Soup

This is a really nice soup that I also make.

3 lb. beef shank cut in 1 inch pieces

2 cups water

2 cups tomato juice

1/3 c. coarsely chopped onion

1 T. salt

2 t. worcestershire sauce

1/4 t. chili powder

2 bay leaves

1 cup of celery, carrots, potatoes, cabbage

Remove meat from bone. Cut in bite sized pieces. Brown in hot fat. Add water, tomato juice, onion and seasoning. Cover and simmer two hours. Add vegetables and simmer 1 hour more. Remove bones and bay leaves before serving. 8 servings.
