2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
1 cup dry split peas
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery with leaves
1 cup shredded carrot
2 tablespoons snipped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
1/2 cup regular rice
In crock pot combine ham, peas, onions, celery, carrots, parsley, thyme and pepper. Pour chicken broth and water over all. Cover and cook on low setting for 10 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours. Add rice for last hour.
