Donuts-Becky

3/4 cup Crisco

1 tablespoon salt

2 cups scalded milk

1 1/2 package yeast

1 cup sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

3 eggs

About 7 cups flour

Scald milk. In large bowl, put Crisco, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour milk over to melt ingredients and beat with electric mixer. May add up to 1 ice cube to make lukewarm, or wait for it to cool. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and 1 tablepoon sugar. When milk mixture is lukewarm, add yeast. Add 3 beaten eggs. Add the flour last. Let rise in over until double, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Push down with well-oiled hands and let rise once more to doubledl, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Pat, don't roll, small parts at a time and cut into donuts. Let rise again until about double in size, 20 to 20 minutes. Fry in about 350 degree oil. Fry one side until lightly browned, then flip and fry other side until lightly browned. Drain on paper towel. This makes a nice large batch. Can be frozen and warmed in microwave.
