Creamy Ham and Broccoli-Peggy

1 pound cooked ham, about 3 cups

1 (16oz.) package frozen, cut broccoli, thawed and drained

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 (8oz.) jar processed cheese spread, can used cubed cheese

1 (8oz.) can sliced water chestnuts, drained

1 cup uncooked rice

1 cup milk

1/2 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon pepper

In slow cooker, place ham, broccoli, soup, cheese, water chestnuts, rice, milk, celery, onion and pepper. Stir until blended. Smooth top, pushing rice into mixture. Cook 2 to 2 1/2 hours on high, or 4 to 5 hours on low. Stir occasionally if possible.

VARIATION: Chicken can also be used.
