Baklava-Becky

2 cups walnuts, ground coarsely

2 cups ground almonds

2 cups fine bread crumbs

2 tablespoons sesame seeds, browned

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1 pound phyllo dough

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Most grocers carry the phyllo dough in the freezer section. Mix the first 7 ingredients together. Melt 1 pound butter. Grease a 9x13 inch pan and line with 5 layers phyllo, spread with thin layer of nut mixture and sprinkle with melted butter. Top with layer of phyllo and keep repeating--nut mixture, butter, phyllo, until all mixture is used up, keeping 5 phyllo for topping. Cut into diamond shaped pieces before baking. Pour remaining melted butter over all the Baklava. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.

SYRUP:

2 cups honey

2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups water

Juice of 1 lemon

Boil together for 10 minutes. Pour hot syrup over cooled Baklava. Allow to stand several hours before serving. I like to make this about 2 days ahead. This mellows the flavor nicely.
