Aunt Billie's Candied Sweet Potatoes-Becky

Boil as many sweet potatoes as you plan to make; boil unpeeled and whole until soft when poked with fork. Make syrup of 1 cup dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup water; boil until syrupy. When soft, peel potatoes carefully, cut in half lengthwise, dip in syrup and place in cake pan. Put dollop of butter on each and pour extra syrup over potatoes. Lightly salt and pepper. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, turning half way. These are delicious!
